She won a Soap Opera Digest Award for the Outstanding Female Newcomer. She tended to play guest characters for many years. They praised her for her character of The Dr. Erin Jameson in the popular television show Hawthorne. Her stunning looks and acting skills her character slowly earned her large fan following. The film she made her debut when she was around the age of twenty playing her part in the film Campfire Stones. Her roles have also included Jekyll This Means War, Chasing Mavericks and a variety of other films. The role she played of the lead character Beautiful Now earned her a nomination in the Madrid International Film Festival Award. She played Lucy Preston the history professor in Timeless. Spencer is receiving positive feedback from critics regarding her character in the sci-fi TV show Timeless. The actress was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award.
